Ashley Carner Named as President / Chief Operating Officer
AMOCO is pleased to announce the promotion of Ashley Carner from Chief Operations Officer to President / Chief Operating Officer effective January 1st, 2025. In her new role, Carner will continue reporting directly to Chief Executive Officer, Shawn Bailey and will manage all operational aspects of the Accounting & Finance, Administration, Operations, and Technology divisions, allowing Bailey to predominately focus his efforts on Advocacy, Business Development, Collaborations, Governance, and Strategic Planning.
“Ashley is an amazing leader and has played a critical role in AMOCO’s success throughout her career,” Bailey said. “More importantly, Ashley consistently demonstrates the principles of a servant leader and is completely committed to AMOCO’s mission and our members’ financial success. I am also proud to say that this critical leadership role is being filled internally by an individual that started on the front lines for AMOCO and now has become the second highest ranking individual in the organization, President.”
Carner joined AMOCO in 2005 as a Member Service Representative and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2010, Executive Vice President of Operations in 2014, and Chief Operations Officer in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration degree from Northwestern State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance and Management from Tulane University - A.B. Freeman School of Business. She also received the “Award of Excellence” during her studies at Southwest CUNA Management School at Texas Christian University.
“I am honored to take on this new role for AMOCO and to continue working closely with Shawn, the leadership team, and staff to achieve our mission of “serving the financial needs of our members,” Carner said.
Carner is also committed to the communities that AMOCO serves as exemplified by her past and current engagement and service for Houston Methodist Women’s Advisory Group, Association of Business & Professional Women, Santa Fe Economic Development Corporation, Higher Up Texas, SAVE Rescue, Independence Village, Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, and Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Carner resides in Santa Fe, Texas with her husband Chad Carner and two children.
Member Appreciation Night
On Thursday, October 17, AMOCO celebrated International Credit Union Day with our Member Appreciation Night at Main Event in Webster, TX. AMOCO members enjoyed family fun, good food, games, a kids' zone, face painting, caricatures, bowling, and more.
October 2024 Shred Day
On October 12, we kicked off International Credit Union Week by hosting Shred Day at our venue sponsor, Main Event Webster. We had over 150 vehicles and shredded a whopping 20,000 pounds of personal documents, ensuring the safe disposal of unwanted papers. Even more heartwarming, the generous donations to Texas EquuSearch totaled $1,700, supporting their efforts in search and recovery services for families of missing persons and law enforcement.
Every Ribbon Tells A Story
On Saturday, October 5, AMOCO was proud to attend the Every Ribbon Tells a Story Organization's 8th Annual Gospel Explosion—bringing awareness to breast cancer, which celebrated survivors and remembered those who lost their battle.
Magnolia Creek Branch Coming Soon

AMOCO Young Professionals Volunteer Day
On September 21, representatives from AMOCO and our Young Professionals group assisted M.I. Lewis Social Services in Dickinson with a food distribution to the community.
Seeding Galveston
Several AMOCO employees spend a morning volunteering at Seeding Galveston, lending a hand at their farm. These employees weeded, harvested, fed the farm animals, and spent time with their farm dog, Zuzu.
New Teachers in Our Communities
In preparation for the new school year, AMOCO had the pleasure of welcoming hundreds of new local teachers! Seeing the community come together to support these dedicated educators to succeed in their classrooms was inspiring.
National Drive-Thru Day
Thank you to all our wonderful members for making National Drive-Thru Day so special! Tellers decorated cash-back envelopes, and random members were surprised with gift cards from local businesses.
H.I.S. Ministries Back-to-School Bash
On Friday, July 26, AMOCO volunteered for H.I.S. Ministries West Galveston County’s Back-to-School Bash 2024. AMOCO delivered backpacks and school essentials to over 300 children in Galveston County.
Servant's Heart Award
On June 14, AMOCO held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at the Galveston Railroad Museum and proudly presented Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, with the inaugural Servant’s Heart Award. The prestigious award recognizes Individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to their community.
In addition to presenting the award, AMOCO donated $25,000 to Texas EquuSearch to support the organization’s ongoing efforts in search and recovery missions.
EquuSearch is a non-profit organization that provides search and rescue services to families of missing persons and law enforcement.
Business of the Quarter
On July 23, South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce presented AMOCO's Clear Lake City Branch with the Business of the Quarter award. We are grateful for this recognition!
40 Under 40
AMOCO was a proud sponsor of the 2024 class of 40 Under 40 at a mixer held by The Galveston County Daily News on July 17 at Lago Mar Lagoon in Texas City. The Daily News 40 Under 40 Program recognizes men and women across all industries who have demonstrated personal and professional success and a commitment to the community.
Mike Evans Foundation
On June 29, AMOCO had a blast sponsoring the 2024 Mike Evans Family Foundation Youth Football Camp in Galveston. The hometown hero and Super Bowl Champ, Mike Evans, hit the field to mentor the young football stars.
Interns at Galveston County Food Bank
AMOCO's dedicated interns generously volunteered at the Galveston County Food Bank on June 14, helping in the pantry and contributing to vital fundraising activities. We are grateful for the chance to give back!
Power of Partner Award
United Way Galveston County Mainland awarded AMOCO its prestigious Power of Partner Award. This award acknowledges AMOCO’s commitment and assistance in working together and expanding our relationship, expertise, and resources to advance United Way’s mission.

April 2024 Shred Day
AMOCO held a successful Shred Day event hosted by the Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital on Saturday, April 20th, to celebrate Earth Day. The event was open to members and the community, with over 250 vehicles in attendance, and more than 20,000 pounds of unwanted documents were safely shredded and recycled. Additionally, the non-profit organization Interfaith Caring Ministries (ICM) set up a booth at the event and collected $1,400 in cash and supplies for its food pantry with the help of its volunteers.
Galveston County Fair & Rodeo
AMOCO is a proud Ruby Sponsor of the Galveston County Fair & Rodeo. On April 11, we hosted a Sneak-Peek-Night featuring the band Bag of Donuts. AMOCO also actively participated in the live auction, purchasing animals raised by local students. Funds from the auction go back to the student to help with the cost of raising the animal or purchasing a future animal.
National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day
On January 10, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, AMOCO’s Business Development team delivered treats to several local law enforcement offices to show our appreciation for their incredible service to our communities.
Distinguished Service Award
On January 20th, AMOCO was honored to receive the Distinguished Service Award by the Friendswood Chamber of Commerce at their annual gala. A special Certificate of Recognition was presented by State Senator Mayes Middleton, District 11, and State Representative Dr. Greg Bonnen, District 24. We are incredibly grateful for this prestigious honor.
86th Annual Business Meeting
On February 20th, AMOCO Federal Credit Union hosted its 86th Annual Meeting at the Doyle Convention Center, with over 330 members in attendance. Our Board of Directors was introduced, and awards were given out. In addition, members had the opportunity to win prizes.
It was a great opportunity to see old friends, meet new acquaintances, and listen to all the exciting things happening at AMOCO.
La Marque’s Safe City Initiative
On February 27, AMOCO President/CEO Shawn Bailey pledged a $5,000 sponsorship to the City of La Marque’s Safe City Initiative. This project aims to provide security cameras for senior citizens in the community and support efforts to enhance safety.
