What can Balance do for you?
The certified financial counselors can help you avoid or resolve financial distress, provide information and assistance in helping you reach your financial goals - such as buying a home or saving for the future.
To use the services, simply call BALANCE toll-free, 888.456.2227. Counselors are available Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. They can also be reached by email at email@example.com.
InfoLine - When you call Balance, counselors can answer a variety of financial and credit related questions and mail information on specific topics. Calls can last anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes depending on the question.
Money Management - Counselors can assist you in creating a spending plan. Appointments are available weekdays, evenings and weekends. The average session lasts approximately one hour and there is no limit to the number of sessions you have. Each session is goal oriented and results in a written action plan, clearly outlining the steps required to reach financial control.
Debt Management - Counselors can assist members who are having difficulty paying their bills by establishing a debt management plan. Appointments are available weekdays, evenings and weekends. The average session lasts approximately one hour. The counselor will discuss income, living expenses, and debt in detail and will offer suggestions for dealing with delinquent rent or mortgage, credit card bills, past due utilities, back taxes, student loan delinquency, or credit accounts sent to collections.
Credit Report Review - Counselors can assist you in obtaining a free or low-cost copy of your credit report and provide a free confidential credit report review. A credit report session can include a discussion of: understanding your credit score, correcting inaccuracies, improving your credit standing, protecting against ID theft and fraud, and overcoming ID theft.
Housing Education - Counselors can assist you in making home ownership a dream come true. Counselors will discuss cash flow, savings plan, credit history and score, and provide suggestions to help members prepare for home buying process. Existing homeowners who are having difficulty making their mortgage payments can also receive counseling to help them save their home from foreclosure.
Online Education - Balance offers online education on a variety of financial topics. Members can also access OnTrack an online budgeting resources that helps you create a budget and spending plan.
